Zoning Revamp

New, 1 comment

Allowing taller buildings along the river in the Marigny and Bywater neighborhoods is not sitting well with the majority of residents. As part of the proposed zoning ordinance revamp, a "riverfront design overlay district" would be created, which would okay buildings up to 75-feet in certain sections. A former prez of the Faubourg Marigny Improvement Association said the neighborhood is against "grand architecture that's not appropriate to village scale. To build 75-foot buildings is not really appropriate in terms of the historical fabric of the neighborhood." [N.O. Advocate, previously]
