Allowing taller buildings along the river in the Marigny and Bywater neighborhoods is not sitting well with the majority of residents. As part of the proposed zoning ordinance revamp, a "riverfront design overlay district" would be created, which would okay buildings up to 75-feet in certain sections. A former prez of the Faubourg Marigny Improvement Association said the neighborhood is against "grand architecture that's not appropriate to village scale.
