Welcome back to Curbed Comparisons, a column that explores what one can rent for a set dollar amount in various New Orleans neighborhoods. Is one man's studio another man's townhouse? Let's find out! Today's price: $900/month.
Right on St. Charles Avenue in the Lower Garden District, this one-bedroom, one-bath apartment is not only above a sweet shop, it's stumbling distance from the Avenue Pub, a 24-hour bar room. There are hardwood floors and a sweet balcony, but smokers and pet owners are out of luck.
? On Dublin Street in the Carrollton-Uptown area near Palmer Park, this furnished one-bedroom is listed for $850. There's a washer and dryer and nice architectural details like pocket doors, 11-foot ceilings, and exposed brick. Smokers and pet owners excluded again.
? Gentilly may not be the coolest kid on the block, but $900 gets you three bedrooms and 1,000-square feet of living space, a washer/dryer, off-street parking, plus a yard that the owner takes care of.
? On the opposite end of the rental spectrum, here's 450-square feet for $925 in the French Quarter. Highlights include hardwood floors, a courtyard, and a toilet in front of a fireplace.
