Proposed High-Rise, Tracage, Steals The Show At Zoning Meeting

New, 5 comments

The Tracage, a proposed 182-foot tall apartment development, took the spotlight at yesterday's zoning revamp meeting where locals voiced their concerns. It was the Warehouse District and French Quarter neighborhood residents' turn to sound off as the zoning ordinance rules are about to get a make over.

Tracage talks started way back in 2006 and hit some snags then, too. Too tall and too modern have been constant gripes. A warehouse was demo'd to make room for the luxury living (abutting the expressway) with a ground floor retail venue on Annunciation Street. Then the economy tanked and the project was put on hold. Now that things are booming again, Tracage is back at it. They were cleared by the Board of Zoning Adjustments earlier this year.
