Retail-Residence Combo Coming To Lower Garden District

Once a blighted Magazine Street eyesore, this 1850s building is getting beautified and will be a retail-residential development. City Biz reports that the five apartments, set to hit the market early next year, will be from 710 to 1,205-square feet and will go for $2 per square foot. There's also 1,200-square feet of retail space, but no word on who will be setting up shop. Developer Ted Swingle set his sights on the LGD, noting its location between the Garden District and Warehouse District and the "number of other vacant properties in that area waiting to be developed."
