Who Will Take Over Vacant 93,000-Sq. Foot ArtWorks Building?

New, 4 comments

The Louisiana ArtWorks Building, a 93,000-square foot, $25-million art complex-turned giant art fail, is officially on the market. Corporate Realty is on board looking for a bidder for the five-story structure and will "identify a finalist" on December 11. The property was meant to be artists' studios with print making, ceramic, and metal workshops, classrooms, conference rooms, and a gift shop. But the historic renovation went way over budget, the board of directors all resigned in 2011, and the space has been empty since. Add this to the Lee Circle-area watch list of coming attractions (the Greater New Orleans Foundation's new home, John Georges scooping up the Cajun dance hall) and as always, stay tuned.
