Welcome back to Curbed Comparisons, a column that explores what one can rent for a set dollar amount in various New Orleans neighborhoods. Is one man's studio another man's townhouse? Let's find out! Today's price: $1,000/month.
On Fontainebleau Drive near the Carrollton neighborhood Uptown, this 875-square-foot, one-bedroom, one-bath has striking wood floors, cypress woodwork, a window seat in the living room, and a sun room. There's a dishwasher and washer/dryer, and water is included in rent. A pretty impressive place, indeed, but smokers and pet owners are out of luck.
↑ This Irish Channel shotgun on Laurel Street has one bedroom, one bathroom, 744-square-feet of living space, original hardwood floors, ceiling fans, and three decorative fireplaces. Other perks: There's a lemon tree in the backyard (it apparently produces huge lemons), a "large private back porch," and a storage shed with a washer/dryer. Water is included with rent and no dogs are allowed.
↑ Right off of Canal Street in Mid-City, this two-bedroom, two-bath rental was just renovated and looks pretty spacious. There are hook-ups for a washer/dryer and pets are not allowed.
↑ This renovated French Quarter one-bedroom, one-bath on Iberville Street is on the fourth floor, but good news, there's an elevator. The square footage isn't mentioned, which sometimes means you don't even want to know, but the bedroom is independent from the living area and there's a "decent closet." No pets and no smokers.
↑ On St. Charles Avenue Uptown, this 750-square-foot rental has one bedroom, one-bath, plus a little spare room. There's off-street parking, water is paid, and the place has been professionally cleaned and painted. Mega-perk and perfect timing for Mardi Gras fans — this place is a half-block from the parade routes.
