Sticker Shock: St. Roch Home Lists For $309,000

New, 7 comments

A Curbed NOLA reader pointed us in the direction of this just-listed St. Roch home and asked, "Hey Curbed, what do y'all think about asking $309,000 on Marais Street? Seems like a lot to me!" The 1,900-square-foot, three-bedroom, two-bath "New Marigny" digs was gutted and remodeled and sure, it's pretty nice. There's new plumbing, electric, a new roof, 12-foot ceilings, a Jacuzzi tub, a yard, and off-street parking. Keep in mind though, the average listing price for homes hitting the market in this neighborhood last week was $84,047. Of course, those houses may not be renovated or as close to St. Claude Avenue and the St. Roch Market (yes, those are highlights from the listing). This price would blend right in on the other side of St. Claude Avenue in the Marigny and Bywater 'hoods, but we're going to have to agree that yes, $309,000 is a pretty bold asking price.
Readers, do weigh in — Is this price way off or is this the future of St. Roch real estate?
