A developer has grand plans to bring "high end living" in the form of 24 condos in a five-story building to a swath of property on Oak Street. The Uptown Messenger reports that George Fowler IV held court with some Carrollton neighborhood residents about making Oak Lofts a reality. His plans call for a 56-foot tall building, which is over the 50-foot limit, so a waiver would be needed to make that happen. There would also be parking and a ground floor 3,000-square foot commercial space, which Fowler envisions as a gym. According to the letter, which was passed around to Oak Street-area neighbors, he wants to get construction started in May 2014 with a February 2015 completion date. Units would be priced from $280,000 to $350,000, although Fowler did say he doesn't have "anything set in stone," including the design of the building, which could be modern or historic. The grainy non-revealing rendering is considered a "starting point" and Fowler says he'll be launching a website soon with more details.
