This Just In: City Hall, Courts Could Move To Charity Hospital

Mayor Mitch Landrieu wants to pack up City Hall and Civil District Court, and move them to the building that once housed Charity Hospital. The million-square foot art-deco landmark flooded during Hurricane Katrina and has been empty ever since. Mayor Landrieu says the move will "improve efficiency in government" by having everyone in one place. He also noted that this will help bring surrounding neighborhoods back to life. The plan, which has been kept largely under wraps until today, has no timeline. The mayor did note that the requested $300 million for the move should last until 2018, though.
