Rowhouses Planned For Empty Lot In Lower Garden District

Plans to subdivide an empty lot in the Lower Garden District for eight new townhomes got the a-okay at yesterday's City Planning Commission meeting. The corner of Prytania and Josephine Streets was the former home of the ridiculously beautiful Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church, which was demo'd after a six-alarm fire in 2011. The land was purchased for $850K by Gekel, LLC in May of last year. The identical three-story buildings, designed by architect Adam Perschall, who – fun fact – designed local celeb chef John Besh's kitchen, have already been approved by the Architectural Review Committee.
