17,000-SF CBD Cajun Dance Hall Scooped Up By John Georges

New, 1 comment

Michaul's Restaurant and Cajun Dance Hall, an almost-always empty oddity on St. Charles Avenue now belongs to local billionaire newspaper owner/businessman John Georges. City Biz reports that the 17,000-square foot property near Lee Circle closed earlier this year after the owner died. Georges, the new-ish owner of The New Orleans Advocate newspaper, two-stepped on in and bought it at auction for $1.63M. Apparently he has "several ideas but no immediate plans for the property at this time." This could be a hot little spot – on the Mardi Gras parade route, near several museums and galleries, not to mention that the Lee Circle area will surely be shaken alive by this new structure.
