N.O. Building Corp. Will Run The Show At St. Roch Market

St. Roch Market news at last! The Advocate reports that City Council gave the okay for the New Orleans Building Corp. to negotiate and enter a lease with third parties concerning the market's re-opening. The NOBC, a city agency that leases, operates, and develops city-owned property, has signed on to a 30-year agreement to run the show at the market. The 8,600-square foot space opened in 1875 as an open-air market and is on the tail end of a $3.7M renovation that started last summer. Its "white box" status means the St. Claude Avenue property can have several uses with multiple vendors. No word on any takers and for once the rumor mill is pretty silent.
