The Domain Cos., the group behind the South Market District $200M apartment/retail development, is adding a hotel to the mix. Purchased last month for $5.5M, some locals will remember the building at 600 Carondelet St. as the old Max Barnett Furniture Store. No word on what hotel it will be, but they plan to add retail, too. "The big-picture plan for South Market calls for a total of 600 apartments and 170,000 square feet of retail space. Girod Street, with widened sidewalks and outdoor cafes, will serve as the heart of South Market, developers said." [NOLA.com]
