The beautiful old Orpheum Theater, empty since Hurricane Katrina, has new owners lined up and should be set to open in Spring 2015 after a $10-million (at least!) renovation. The Gambit reports that Roland Von Kurnatowski (co-founder of the Tiptina's Foundation) and Dr. Eric George plan to seal the deal next month. Ownership of the Orpheum has changed hands quite a few times since 2006 and the building, which opened in 1921, hit the market again in August 2013 with a $2-million price tag. No word on the sale price yet. Plans do call for the return of the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra to its old stomping grounds. The theater rebirth in town gets a solid A+ and next up? Loew's State Palace Theater, we're looking at you.
