1840s Irish Channel Home With Courtyard Lists for $675K

New, 16 comments

For the sake of this just-listed, impeccably renovated Creole cottage from 1841, let's try not to harp on the bonkers Irish Channel housing market (too much) and instead take in some eye candy. The exterior of the Annunciation Street home barely registers on the second glance scale but inside the 2,600-square-foot spread are original hardwood floors, 12-foot ceilings, and nine-foot cypress doors. Keep moving through the three-bedroom, one-bath center hall (the listing says it's one of only six in the Channel) and there is another hidden gem in the courtyard, gardens, and outdoor bar set-up with an office/shed/storage building out back. The owners bought this place in 2004 for $260,000 and told Domaine Home, which featured the home this past fall, they wanted a place that "maintained its original integrity, with no renovations." The asking price: $675,000.
