"Touchdown For Homes," a group's plan to build up to 40 houses, a community center, open-air market, and retail spots in the Lower Ninth Ward isn't taking off the way they hoped it would. The group of Home Builders Association members and the local chapter of the NFL Players Association kicked off the project around this time last year by building three homes and two are still on the market. "Bill Ward, past president of the Louisiana Homebuilders Association, said the organization's commitment to the plan has not wavered and once the last of the three homes sells the group will build additional houses, but a community requires more than just residential development."
