Learn the History of Your House with NOPL

October is American Archives Month and the New Orleans Public Library is here to help you celebrate all month long. Its research-heavy seminars include an intro to genealogy class (October 25th) and a smaller workshop to help you publish the story of your family's past (October 20th) — both very cool but not so helpful for a sentient building blogger. Our past is hidden in the property archives of the city along with the other buildings, which is why we'll be attending this Saturday's Introduction to Property Research Resources.

This Saturday, October 4th at the Louisiana Division/City Archives section of the New Orleans Main Library, archivists and staff will be at the ready to answer your questions about research methods, tools, and texts to peruse when it comes to looking up property in New Orleans. The class runs from 10:30am to noon and — like the library itself — is absolutely free to the public, though NOPL wouldn't mind if you registered. Call them at (504) 596-2610. We'll see you there!
