The fine folks that brought you Lot Next Door and its many versions are finding yet another use for vacant space in the form of their latest Future Ground initiative. The New Orleans Redevelopment Authority and Van Alen Institute, a New York-based group that pairs innovative design with practical public use, have joined forces to reimagine vacant land in New Orleans for the short-term and in years to come. Three teams of design and public development experts were chosen to create eco-friendly "neighborhood assets" out of vacant land throughout the city of New Orleans.
Their focus on one year, ten years and fifty years from now means that designs and proposals are meant to grow with the community and their needs. This Wednesday, October 22nd is your chance to meet the teams and gain just a little bit more knowledge about the project through a casual meeting at Tulane City Center (1725 Baronne St) at 6pm. Holy Grill Food Truck will be selling the good stuff and drinks are provided.
