It's been five months since 1031 Canal successfully received a demolition permit to tear down the former Woolworth's building and start on proposed luxury apartments and finally something's getting done. Crews are beginning to block off N Rampart and Canal to make way for their machinery as they begin the demolition process and 1031 makes way for luxury living, or "living the easy way" as its website purports. Not to say that their apartments won't be a rousing success — it's just that the Kailas family saga certainly hasn't been easy.
