Planned Broad St Art House Theatre Unanimously Approved

New, 1 comment

The City Planning Commission unanimously approved of a proposed movie theatre at 636 N Broad St. The warehouse, a former plumbing supply store, auto shop, and — way back when — a charitable bingo hall that dates back to the 1920s. Get the Gorilla, LLC, the company that owns the building, plans to turn it into a four screen art house theatre that focuses as much on indie films as local movies. Also voicing their support for the project? Nearly every single neighborhood association in the area, who all want to see the blighted building be fully restored and revitalized. 636 N Broad now heads to City Council for their approval. Their next meeting is this Thursday at 10am at the City Council Chambers.
