178-Year-Old Tremé House Hits the Market for $525,000

New, 5 comments

For the first time in 20 years, this new-to-the-market Tremé home on Ursulines Avenue is up for grabs. The four-bedroom, three-bath Creole cottage comes with a rental unit upstairs, a gigantic yard with citrus trees, and an attached lot at 1020 Marais St. While the unfortunate pics of the upstairs apartment knocks some of the charm factor off of the otherwise lovely 2,863-square-foot home, the balcony is a nice perk. According to the book "New Orleans Architecture: Faubourg Tremé and the Bayou Road," the Second Empire-style tower was added on around 1890. The house was built in 1836 for $2,200 and sold in 1867 for $4,300. Its current ask: $525,000.
