Luxury living will hit Elk Place in the CBD this summer, as Baton Rouge-based developer Mike Wampold wraps up the $20 million renovation at the once-vacant, 17-story building, formerly known as the Elk Medical Plaza. In its place is 144 Elk Place Lofts, now home to 96 apartments, seven floors of indoor parking, and 8,500-square-feet of ground floor retail space (no tenants named yet, but let the guessing games begin!). The one-to-three-bedroom units, most with private balconies, range from 525 to 1,935-square-feet. There's a rooftop pool and terrace with cabana, a fitness center, internet throughout the 245,000-square-foot building, and rentable on-site storage units for those in need of downsizing for downtown highrise living. All apartments have 12 and 13-foot ceilings, stainless steel appliances, washer and dryers, and "oversized bathrooms with door-less, walk-in showers." What to expect as far as pricing goes? Depending on the square footage and balcony action, one-bedroom, one-baths are $1,150 to $1,860; two-bedroom, two-baths go from $1,995 to $2,495; and the three-bedroom, three-and-a-half bath corner units with balconies are $3,870 to $4,195.
