Dorignac's Announces Upgrades, but '60s Signs Here to Stay

New, 1 comment

Dorignac's, the beloved Metairie grocery store that's like a step back in time, is getting a makeover but the oh-so-iconic retro signs won't be going anywhere. According to The Times-Pic, the number of signs, which date back to the store's 1963 opening on Veterans Boulevard, don't follow the current council rules but an exception was made for the supermarket with quasi-landmark status. The squat brick building will get wider windows, new lighting, and parking lot landscaping as part of its renovation, which should run between $1.5 to $3 million and kick off this summer.
