Behind The Scenes

The Civic Theatre, the oldest theater in town, was a crumbling mess when real estate developer Brian Gibbs scooped up the space in the early 2000s. A $10 million restoration has turned the Civic into a high-tech entertainment venue but there was almost a twist in those plans. Says developer Bryan Bailey, who ended up teaming up with Gibbs: "I asked him what his plans were for the building. He told me he had drawn up plans to turn the stage house into condos, to which I responded: 'That's the worst F-ing idea I've ever heard.'" [Forbes]
