1930s Fontainebleau Home Gets Mod Makeover, Asks $1.223M

New, 5 comments

This Fontainebleau home looks like it could fit right in on a block of "Leave It To Beaver"-style digs but the interior of the 5.371-square-foot space reveals a very un-June Cleaver-like contempo chic interior. Designer Shaun Smith is the guy behind the makeover of this 1930s five-bedroom, four-bathroom (with two half-baths) house on Vendome Place, which comes with a room devoted to wine storage, a two-car garage, private yard, security cameras, and a surround sound system. Other perks include a third-floor guest suite, new plumbing and electric, a "theater" (which might just be a glorified den), and two laundry rooms. Public records show that Smith picked up the place in 2011 for $224,000 (it was a Fannie Mae sale) when it was "a matron, a bit down in the heel" with "really great bones," he told The Times-Pic. The asking price now? $1,223,000.
