Ferry Wire

Good news for ferry commuters, Algiers Point businesses, and those just looking for an industrial-style cruise across the Mississippi: Starting July 21, the Canal Street–Algiers Point ferry will expand its weekday hours with service from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. (weekend hours will stay the same for now). Ferry woes were aplenty last year when hours were slashed and a $2 fare was tagged on to keep service afloat. More to look forward to–another ferry will be added to the fleet and it's only 34-years-old, compared to the "70-year-old piece of crap" that's out there now. [Advocate; previously]
