At The Drive-In

In a "misty remembrance" of the days when drive-in movie theaters sprinkled the landscape, The Times-Pic rattles off some of the more popular drive-in joints that were known around town. There was the The Skyvue Drive-In in Gentilly (now townhouses), the Airline Drive-In (now a Sam's Club), The Do Drive-In on Metairie Road (now condos and a shopping center), and the simply named The Drive-In on Robert E. Lee and Canal Boulevards, which opened in 1940 and only lasted six years due to NIMBY noise complaints. [NOLA.com]
