Behold! The Fourth Most Expensive Listing in New Orleans

New, 7 comments

Waterfront views don't come cheap and 9,194-square-feet is nothing to sneeze at, but an eye-popping $3.2 million asking price for this rather drab, Bancroft Drive spread on Bayou St. John? Well, then. According to the listing, the fresh-on-the-market "palatial home" underwent a "stunning renovation" and if the photos are recent, the makeover is still in the works. Built in 1964, the six-bedroom, nine-bath Gentilly dwelling has a "great room" with 24-foot ceilings, an in-home theater, "master bedrooms on all three levels," and it comes equipped with Smart Home technology. The best part seems to be the outdoor set-up with a pool, spa, and a one-bedroom, one-bath cabana that comes with its own kitchen. The last time this place sold was in 2010 for $615,000 and now it's the fourth most expensive listing in the city. The only houses in New Orleans with heftier asks are this Garden District mansion ($7,999,000), the Claiborne Mansion in the Marigny ($3.8 million), and this "French 18th century style" home on St. Charles Avenue (now $3.5M).
