With a starting bid of $200,000, this Bywater double, a 1,822-square-foot home on Clouet Street, is heading to the auction block July 19. The three-bedroom, two-and-a-half bath pad is definitely of the fixer-upper variety but there are a few qualities that make this place stick out, like the wall of windows overlooking a private courtyard and the must-see murals framed by columns. An appraisal for the property, which is selling "as is," gives it a $240,000 market value and the Crescent City Auction Gallery gives it a $240,000 to $340,000 estimate. The Orleans Parish Assessor's Office website doesn't list any previous sale records, but it does give the place a total value of $180,400 (and whoa, it was assessed at just $80,000 two years ago). Sneak preview inspections are happening July 1 and July 11 from noon to 2 p.m.
