That's Rather Green

Fifty cigarette butt recycling receptacles are now posted up around downtown New Orleans as part of a pilot program, the first of its kind in the country. The Downtown Development District's Clean Team will be in charge of servicing the receptacles and shipping off the cigarette butts to be recycled into a "variety of industrial products, such as plastic pallets." For every pound of butts collected, $4 will go to the DDD to help provide "green jobs" throughout the city. [downtownnola.com]
