Public Comment Time for Comprehensive Zoning Ordinance

If you've been following the lengthy Comprehensive Zoning Ordinance overhaul that's been going on for years, you'll know that City Council has finally decided to open its chambers to public comment. For those of you who missed the countless meetings and revisions, New Orleans is attempting to update the CZO neighborhood by neighborhood to reflect contemporary changes and respect historical elements. At least, they're trying.

The CZO affects everything from demolitions to height limits and home expansions and add-ons. From now until the New Orleans City Council meeting on September 30th, residents are encouraged to submit online commits via their website. Resources are also available, including the CZO's final draft as well as additional public comments that already span 22 sections.
