Two Listings That Need Love in Their Own Ways

New, 1 comment

This morning we brought you Linkage for all the single ladies (and guys) — it turns out New Orleans is the most single city in the country, whether you dig the empowerment or just haven't had much luck in love. In honor of that designation, we bring you two single condo units that could also use some love.

Location: 836 N Rampart St #2
Size: 1,181 square feet
Price: $399,000
Pitch:"Shabby Chic condo down on Rampart Street!"

This listing acknowledges its worse for wear status, though its interior amenities sound amazing — original hardwood floors, a fireplace in each room, a "spa like bathroom". This condo is located right next to Cosimo Matassa's iconic J & M Studio, now a laundromat. Much like its neighbor, 836 N Rampart has undergone changes that weren't in its best interest when it comes to preserving its historic elements. According to HNOC.org, "20th century construction" was to blame in ridding the building of its prominent wrought iron and 19th century front staircase.

Location: 2033 Coliseum St #4
Size: 775 square feet
Price: $212,000
Pitch:"Charming 1 or 2 Bedroom Condo in an Historic Antebellum home on park-like grounds in the Lower Garden District."

This surprisingly modern upper unit still has touches of its past in the form of gorgeous exposed brick accents. What 2033 Coliseum #4 is hiding as a whole is a murder just two units away. 2033 Coliseum #2 was the address of 29-year-old Michael Vasquez's apartment and where he was killed with an ax by Justin Huckabay II in November of 1995. Huckabay was found guilty of the slaying five years later and sentenced to a life sentence without parole. 2033 Coliseum is far safer and more welcoming than it once was despite its heavy past.
