Crescent Rice Mill Building Sold, To Become Pricey Condos

New, 2 comments

Just last month, tipsters were flooding our tip line, saying that Jax Brewery developer Earl Weber had purchased the old Crescent Rice Mil Building. It turns out, the building is going to Lori and Matt Mitchell, who emailed Curbed NOLA with details of their exciting acquisition. The property is set to become "super high end" condos, which means they'll be incredibly expensive — proposed two to four bedroom units range in price from $700K to $2.5M. The plan boasts five rooftop penthouses, four common hot tubs, a lobby entrance similar to a hotel's, and a whole new restaurant coming to the ground floor. The Mitchells promise that whoever sets up shop will deliver to the building's residents. Hank Smith of HBSA II is the architect and the project is set to be completed in 2016. The condo's names? Crescent Rice Mill Condominium, to honor the building's history as rice mill with a capacity of generating 800 barrels of the grain per day in its hey-day.
