There's a Christmas Tree Lighting Up Charity Hospital

New, 3 comments

Update: it turns out the "tree" wasn't a tree after all. Bah humbug.

The maybe soon-to-be-redeveloped Charity Hospital might be the site of a post-Christmas miracle. A Facebook post from a user claiming to see a lit-up Christmas tree in a window of the shuttered art deco hospital is going viral.

The poster, Lisa Walley Staggs, is a registered nurse at Tulane Medical Center across the street, and spotted the tree while in that hospital's parking garage. Whatever the source of the tree—festive squatter, ghost, whimsical art installation—we hope Santa brings Charity Hospital a new tenant.
