Jack and Jake's Public Market Gets Ready to Open in March

Jack and Jake's, a "regional food hub" that's set to open on Oretha Castle Haley Boulevard, is moving along nicely, with an opening date in March.

The 30,000 s.f. space, located inside the former myrtle Banks Elementary School building, is intended to house "a unique food market and community center that builds upon New Orleans' historic tradition of public markets," according to Founder and CEO John W. Burns. "The public market will allow people to have access to local, fresh foods at an affordable price."

Local fresh food will be available for sale at wholesale and retail. Seating, both indoor and outdoor, is also planned. Edible gardens to cultivate food and education the public will happen in partnership with the New Orleans Food and Farm network. Sounds delicious. Are you ready?
