French Quarter Tomato Warehouse Finally Sells After Spending Two Years on the Market

The former location of a tomato warehouse that dates all the way back to 1817 has officially sold in the French Quarter for $2.5M. Though often referred to as simply the tomato warehouse, 525 Madison St once housed a series of bakeries in the mid-1800s and eventually the Gallery Circle Theatre, for which there's still a theatre in the four bedroom, four bath complex. This estate was once featured in the Wall Street Journal way back in 2009 and had most recently been on the market for over two years, topping our both most recent most expensive and largest home lists in New Orleans. Its original ask was $3,595,000 and it sold for around $1.1M less. Spanning multiple buildings as well as a commercial space, there's no telling how 525 Madison St will be reinvented now that it has a new owner. As always, we'll keep you posted.
