It's Cinco de Mayo, but there's also a "giving holiday" in progress: GiveNOLA, the local outpost of Give Local America, a 24-hour campaign that encourages people to donate online to participating nonprofits, is happening right now. It can be overwhelming to decide who to support — especially since the nonprofits engage in some friendly competition — so we've rounded up some participating organizations having to do with architecture, neighborhood development, historical preservation and housing. In a way, this is the Cinco de Mayo of charitable giving: you can do it any time of the year, but today's a great excuse.
