Uptown Resident Comes Home to Giant Snake on Porch

A photo posted by Gregory Agid (@gregoryagid) on

It would be less surprising to arrive to your Uptown home to see a human sitting on your porch than to see a 5-foot-long snake, but that's exactly what happened to New Orleans musician and Uptown resident Gregory Agid yesterday. Agid snapped the photo of the snake (above), whom he caught wrapped around a potted tree on his Magazine Street porch like it was NBD. The city's animal control didn't respond to the call, but Agid got a visit from Louisiana's favorite animal trapping couple, John Schmidt and Suzy Howard, who took the rat snake to their St. Charles Parish home. In related animal news from the same day, an escaped cow hoofed through Metairie yesterday. It's a wild world out there. Watch the full snake story on WWL. - Lauren LaBorde
