Unit in Former French Quarter Firehouse Sells for $2.45M

New, 2 comments

One of our favorite houses, and one we thought Kimye should consider in their very, very hypothetical New Orleans house-hunt, is now off the market — well, partially. City Business reported (story is behind a paywall) that one of the units of the former firehouse at 929 Bienville St. was sold to an "out-of-town buyer who had been looking for about a year at homes throughout the market." (so, maybe another celebrity?)

The entire house was on the market for $4.85 million, but someone scooped up part of the property for $2.45 million earlier this month. According to the story, the firehouse was built in 1907 and designed by famed local architect E.A. Christy. In 2005, developer John Kirkendoll bought the property for $1 million and completely redesigned the interior, giving it its current modern look, with the New Orleans-based Bockman+Forbes Design.

If you want to read more about the history of the house on a non-paywalled article, check out this piece in City Business.
