For Jared Watson, architect at Perkins+Will, the four years spent tweaking his St. Roch shotgun served as supplemental, real-life architecture education, and now this inventive rehab is on the market. While living in the former double shotgun, Watson adjusted the floorplan from within, removing walls and portions of walls to rethink the grid of a shotgun to a modern dweller's needs. The resulting three-bedroom, two-bathroom house has a creative layout, a wood paneled wall in the living room, a charming backyard and deck, plus what Watson says is "the largest orange tree anyone has ever seen — over 35' tall." All that and the orange tree can be yours for $339,000. · 1211 Marigny St. [Movoto]
