This week Doug McCash over at NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune gave us a preview of the new YAYA Arts Center in Central City, designed by New Orleans modern architect Byron Mouton of Bild Design. The 6,000-square-foot digs hosted a preview on Wednesday and will open officially next week.
The $1.3 million center, located in Central City's Harmony Oaks development, is a typical Mouton-esque design, a "spare, wedge-shaped, industrially elegant structure." It's an intentionally simple building, built for the purpose of "teaching art, making art and selling art." You can check out the space, located at 3322 LaSalle St., for yourself at the public unveiling Tuesday, June 30 at 10 a.m.
