Garden District Most Expensive Neighborhood to Buy a House, According to Real Estate Site

Because it attracts celebrities the likes of Beyonce (maybe) and Sandra Bullock looking to buy part-time homes in all the cities, we assumed the Garden District was probably among New Orleans' pricier 'hoods. The real estate site Trulia came out with a list, reported by NOLA.com today, that makes it official: The Garden District has homes with the highest average listing price, with Uptown and Audubon neighborhoods coming in second and third, respectively.

The average listing price for the Garden District, as of June 3, was $1,607,655, Uptown's was $1,139,666, and Audubon's was $1,080,935. Rounding out the top five are the French Quarter and Lakewood.

If you're looking for non-Knowles priced neighborhoods in which to buy, neighborhoods including Bywater and Bayou St. John are in the $300,000-$400,00 tier, Touro and the Fairgrounds area are in the $200,000-$300,000, and Gentilly Terrace and St. Claude are in the $100,000-$200,00 tier.
