The Lorraine, the 1920s-era building at 8000 St. Charles Ave., is back on the rental market after renovations that followed neglect and some zoning confusion. A 979-square-foot two-bedroom, one-bathroom unit in the building has popped up on Craigslist, and is asking $1900/month.

The apartment building, which was built in 1920, was first zoned as a two-family residential structure, according to Uptown Messenger. Developers bought it in 2008 and planned to renovate, but after discovering big problems with the building's mechanical systems, the project was neglected. When the developers eventually resumed the project, the building's zoning as an apartment had expired, and City Council denied the petition to rezone. Eventually, though, City Council gave the renovations a green light.

The building's architecture has Chicago influences, and inside the unit there's hardwood floor and new appliances.
