We first scoped out this Irish Channel Creole Cottage on the Preservation Resource Center's 2015 Shotgun Tour. Recently, New Orleans Homes and Lifestyles magazine declared it the "Renovation of the Year." And now, this Washington Avenue neutral-toned beauty can be yours for $1,029,000. Flippers Aaron Taravella, a mortgage broker, and Rachel Hall Taravella, an architect and designer, used details from the original house in the renovation, like the original exterior door that is now a pantry door in the kitchen. They also salvaged old beams and some of the flooring from the original house. They added archways, and retrofitted a 19th-century church window to make a wine rack in the dining room. Other details include an ultra-modern bathtub and what is basically an outdoor living room. The 3,680 square-foot space has four bedrooms and three and a half bathrooms.
