City Council Approves Construction on Virgin Hotel

New, 3 comments

The City Planning Commission wasn't a fan of the proposed 14-story Virgin Hotel back in July, but NOLA.com reports that the City Council has approved the project anyway.

Why approve the project when, at 148-feet tall, it surpasses the zoned height limit of 125 feet and 10 stories? The council's hoping we get an airline out of it. From NOLA.com:

"I'm hoping that discussions about bringing Virgin airlines to our city is something that will continue to move forward," [Councilwoman Latoya] Cantrell added. "It seems very promising."

If you build it, will airlines come?
