Jack & Jake's Now Set to Open Sometime This Fall

We've been waiting a long time for Jack & Jake's, the planned market on Oretha Castle Haley Boulevard inside the beautifully renovated Myrtle Banks Elementary School building, to open. The original target open date was October 2014, and then that got pushed to March. March has come and gone and we have not seen the market open, but NOLA.com reports today that, following a recent change in leadership, the market is set to open this fall.

The market's founder and CEO John Burns recently vacated the role, which has likely contributed to the opening delay — Benjamin Warnke, founder and principal of Alembic Community Development, a partner in the project, says in the NOLA.com article that Burns' original opening timeline was too ambitious.

Based on media coverage following the market's sneak peak back in May, at which point the market was scheduled to open "very soon," the rustic-chic market looks just about ready to go. But it looks like we'll have to wait a little while longer for it to actually open.
