Jackson Oaks Development in Old Sara Mayo Hospital to Add 100 Extra Units

New, 1 comment

Jackson Oaks, the apartment complex taking over the old Sara Mayo Hospital in the LGD, will add 100 extra units—11 of which will be affordable housing—despite neighborhood group objections and the City Planning Commission's original recommendation to scale back.

City Council approved the plans last week despite the objections from the Planning Commission and Irish Channel Neighborhood Association, saying that the project's plan to include units set aside "for residents making no more than 80 percent of the area's median income" are a step in the right direction for affordable housing.

The redevelopment by Kailas Companies will include 211 apartments, 17,500 square feet of commercial space and 375 parking spots.
