It looks like the anonymous person—or persons—who offered to pony up the $170,000 needed to remove New Orleans' Confederate monuments will stay anonymous, to our disappointment. Any guess as to who this donor could be?
The donor's identity will get to stay secret because the nonprofit Foundation for Louisiana, which is not subject to public record laws, will be writing the check on the donor's behalf. The only thing we know is, according to The Advocate, is "that [the donor] could be more than one person."
Our only guess—and this is merely speculation—is New Orleans' own Batman Sidney Torres IV, who we know is pretty spendy.
Any guesses as to who this donor could be? Feel free to speculate in the comments, or hit up the tipline.
