The myth of cheap New Orleans rent continues to crumble. Make Room, a project by the nonprofit Enterprise Community Partners, has New Orleans No. 2 in its ranking of "10 worst metro areas for cash-strapped renters."
The study, which encompasses much of the Greater New Orleans area (New Orleans, Metairie and Kenner), says residents "devote 50 percent or more of their income to rent and utilities."
The Make Room report comes just a month after a similar ranking by Smart Asset, which ranked New Orleans as one of the top cities with "increasingly unaffordable rent."
