Construction on the creatively named St. Charles Avenue Condominiums, on the corner of First Street and St. Charles Avenue in the Garden District, is beginning soon, and units will be available in spring of 2017.
The city gave Phyllis and Joseph Landrieu, Mayor Mitch's aunt and uncle, permission to demolish two ranch-style homes—including their home—on the site to make way for the condos. The building's 24,400 square feet of living space will include 10 units, plus a rooftop pool and other amenities. Construction will begin sometime after Carnival wraps up on Feb. 9.
